Song of Preparation: “Just As I Am”
Steve and Kathleen Melson, duet

Litany of Confession: Psalm 90
Lord, you have been our dwelling place in all generations. Before the mountains were brought forth, or you had formed the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.

Teach us, Lord, to count our days that we may gain a wise heart. Satisfy us in the morning with your steadfast love, so that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.

You turn us back to dust, and say, “Turn back, you mortals.” For a thousand years in your sight are like yesterday when it is past, or like a watch in the night.

You sweep them away; they are like a dream, like grass that is renewed in the morning; in the morning it flourishes and is renewed; in the evening it fades and withers. For we are consumed by your anger; by your wrath we are overwhelmed. You have set our iniquities before you, our secret sins in the light of your countenance.

For all our days pass away under your wrath; our years come to an end like a sigh. The days of our life are seventy years, or perhaps eighty, if we are strong;
even then their span is only toil and trouble; they are soon gone, and we fly away.
So teach us to count our days that we may gain a wise heart.

Turn, O Lord! How long? Have compassion on your servants! Satisfy us in the morning with your steadfast love, so that we may rejoice and be glad all our days. Make us glad as many days as you have afflicted us, and as many years as we have seen evil. Let your work be manifest to your servants, and your glorious power to their children. Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us, and prosper for us the work of our hands— O prosper the work of our hands!

Silent Prayers of Confession

Sung Unison Prayer: “Come and Fill” (Taize)
Come and fill our hearts with your peace. You alone, O Lord, are holy.
Come and fill our hearts with your peace, alleluia.

Litany of Assurance:
May God the Father who does not despise the broken spirit,
give us contrite hearts.
May Christ, who bore our sins in his body on the tree,
heal us by his wounds.
May the Holy Spirit, who leads us into all truth,
speak words of pardon and peace.

Song of Thanksgiving: ”In the Lord” (Taize)
In the Lord I’ll be ever thankful; in the Lord I will rejoice.
Look to God, do not be afraid; Lift up your voices the Lord is near;
Lift up your voices the Lord is near.

Scripture Lesson: Revelation 3:14-22

Homily: “Let anyone who has an ear”

Imposition of Ashes/Unison Prayer:
Almighty God, You have created us out of the dust of the earth. May these ashes remind us of our mortality and penitence and teach us again that only by your gracious gift are we given everlasting life through Jesus Christ, our Savior. Amen.

Prayers of the People
God of new birth, we praise you…
for being the giver of life and the victor over death...
for evidence of new life we see in creation…
for our union with Christ in his death and resurrection…
for the promise of the coming Kingdom…
God of new birth,
we acknowledge that all of life is sustained by you so we pray…
for creation and its care…
for the nations of the world…
for the communities in which we live…
for this congregation…
for the people close to us who need a touch of your mercy…
We pray for all these things in the name of the triune God, the giver and sustainer of life.
Amen

Song of Blessing: Bless the Lord My Soul (Taize)
Bless the Lord, my soul, and bless God’s holy name.
Bless the Lord, my soul, who leads me into life

Benediction
Accomplish in us O God the work of your salvation
That we may show forth your glory in the world.
By the cross and the passion of our Savior
Bring us with all your saints to the joy of Christ’s resurrection.
May the God of hope fill us with all joy and peace through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.
