Order of Service

“We trust the peace of armaments, the peace of vigilance, and even the peace of isolation from those whom we fear;
but we find it difficult to trust and practice the peace of love.
The Jesus who wept over Jerusalem still weeps over our cities and our nations.”—Justo Gonzalez

“Christ came to free humanity from false peace.”—Chelsea Harmo

Welcome and Announcements

Responsive Call to Worship

Holy, Holy, Holy Lord, God of power and might,
heaven and earth are full of your glory.
Hosanna in the highest.
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.
Hosanna in the highest.
Come let us worship God!

*Opening Songs

“All Glory Laud and Honor”
All glory laud and honor
To Thee Redeemer King
To whom the lips of children
Make sweet hosannas ring
Thou art the King of Israel
Thou David's royal Son
Who in the Lord's name comest
The King and Blessed One

All glory laud and honor
To Thee Redeemer King
To whom the lips of children
Make sweet hosannas ring
The company of angels
Are praising Thee on high
And mortal men and all things
Created make reply

All glory laud and honor
To Thee Redeemer King
To whom the lips of children
Make sweet hosannas ring
The people of the Hebrews
With palms before Thee went
Our praise and prayer and anthems
Before Thee we present

All glory laud and honor
To Thee Redeemer King
To whom the lips of children
Make sweet hosannas ring
To Thee before Thy passion
They sang their hymns of praise
To Thee now high exalted
Our melody we raise

“Crown Him with Many Crowns”
Crown Him with many crowns
The Lamb upon His throne
Hark how the heavenly anthem drowns
All music but its own
Awake my soul and sing
Of Him who died for thee
And hail Him as thy matchless King
Through all eternity

Crown Him the Lord of life
Who triumphed o'er the grave
And rose victorious in the strife
For those He came to save
His glories now we sing
Who died and rose on high
Who died eternal life to bring
And lives that death may die

Crown Him the Lord of love
Behold His hands and side
Rich wounds yet visible above
In beauty glorified
No angel in the sky
Can fully bear that sight
But downward bends each burning eye
At mysteries so bright

  Unison Prayer of Confession
Lord God, You have created us all in Your image and have loved us with an everlasting and costly love.
But all too often we exclude those who are not like us and treat some with scorn.
Forgive our self-centered lives.
Forgive us when we are dismissive of others and fail to see they are created in your image.
Renew in us a heart of love so that we see one another's worth.
Empower us with your Holy Spirit that we may forgive as we are forgiven.
We pray this in the name of Jesus, who has broken down the walls that separate us.
Amen.

(Silence is kept for private prayer)

Assurance of Pardon

“We Fall Down”
We fall down
We lay our crowns
At the feet of Jesus
The greatness of mercy and love
At the feet of Jesus

And we cry holy holy holy
And we cry holy holy holy
And we cry holy holy holy is the Lamb

  Scripture – Luke 19:28-42

Sermon
Rev. Patrick Vaughn

“Amazing Love”
I'm forgiven
Because You were forsaken
I'm accepted
You were condemned
I'm alive and well
Your Spirit is within me
Because You died And rose again

Amazing love, how can it be
That You my King
Would die for me
Amazing love, I know it's true
It's my joy to honor You
In all I do I honor You

You are my King
You are my King
Jesus You are my King
Jesus You are my King

 Offertory
In response to God's grace, we offer our thinking, talents, treasure and prayers.
May Father, Son and Spirit be glorified as we offer ourselves to love and serve God.

Prayers of the People & The Lord’s Prayer

*Closing Song: “My Song is Love Unknown”
My song is love unknown
My Savior’s love for me
Love to the loveless shown
That they might lovely be
But who am I that for my sake
But Lord should take frail flesh and die

He came from Heaven's throne
Salvation to bestow
His own refused and none
The longed-for Christ would know
This is my friend my friend indeed
Who at my need His life did spend

Sometimes they crowd His way
And His sweet praises sing
Resounding all the day
Hosannas to their King
Then 'crucify' is all their breath
And for His death they thirst and cry

With angry shouts they have
My dear Lord done away
A murderer they save
The prince of life they slay
Yet willingly He bears the shame
That through His name all might be free

Here might I stay and sing
Of Him my soul adores
Never was love dear King
Never was grief like yours
This is my friend in whose sweet praise
I all my days could gladly spend
